About

Aleksander Filip Furmanek

PhD Eng. Arch. — architect and assistant professor at the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology (Poland). He holds a PhD in architecture and urban planning from the Warsaw University of Technology, complemented by postgraduate studies in the conservation of architectural heritage (Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń) and in fire safety (the Fire Academy in Warsaw).

For over twenty years he has run his own architectural practice (bpfa.pl), working across design, adaptive reuse and expert consulting. His research and teaching revolve around architecture, cultural heritage, fire safety of historical buildings, and design methods supported by 3D technologies — with side interests in GIS, BIM and the growing role of AI in spatial disciplines.

Why villa3d

Some things don't fit a design brief or a journal template: objects, images, experiments with scanning and fabrication, ideas that sit between art and research. villa3d is the studio where they are allowed to happen — deliberately unspecialised, open to change, and built to outlast any single fascination.

A Polish-language sister project, devoted specifically to heritage building details, runs at zabytek3d.pl — villa3d keeps the wider lane: elements and objects across eras, art and research.
